The plug-in hybrid combines the best of two worlds: long range and low emissions.
In the plug-in hybrid, the electric and combustion engines provide propulsion. With this concept, it is possible to charge the HV battery of the vehicle in addition to recuperation at a socket or charging station. Thanks to the high-performance lithium-ion HV battery, longer distances can be traveled purely electrically. Mercedes-Benz has developed a modular system for its plug-in hybrids: four- or six-cylinder gasoline engines are combined with hybrid modules and batteries of different power levels.
- Up to 34 km1 purely electric driving possible.
- Low consumption, especially in city traffic, when driving purely electric.
- Battery can be charged via socket, recuperation and the engine.
